There is great excitement in the gallery as we plan a pop-up exhibition for February 2022! Entitled Modern Love the exhibition will run from February 7 th to 21 st . (As the annual day of love, aka, Valentine’s Day, falls neatly within the run of the exhibition, we felt compelled to take a fresh look at our art, from a loving perspective of course!) Our featured artist is something a little different this time. We feel sure his collection will spark interest, curiosity, and conversation. In a further nod to Valentine’s Day, and specifically love, (yes, we are going all out in a lovely way), we have invited our artists to look at the relationship they have with their art and how love inspires them. Essentially, we have asked them to pop on some heart shaped glasses, and write about loving their art. It is all sure to be a bit of fabulous February fun!

Artologie Stationery Wendy Rowark Rebranding Bespoke Designs

What to do when the gallery is closed due to a pandemic? As tempting as watching boxsets on Netflix might have been, Wendy threw herself into spending time being busy in her studio during the pandemic. Read on to find out what she did there…. Since creating Artologie and opening its doors back in 2017, Wendy found that her time was mainly spent immersed in and enjoying selling other people’s art. In her words on a recent Instagram LIVE interview with Roz from Tipperleyhill … “I am so lucky to spend my days surrounded by, talking about and selling such amazing art, created by such talented local artist” …, so nothing wasted, as they say! However, with significant periods during the past 12 months when the gallery was unable to open, the time pendulum swung in the other direction and Wendy was able to again delight in spending time designing and creating her own art. Throw in eye surgery to correct rapidly progressive cataracts and the results of her labours are even more astounding. Works include intricate pen etchings inspired by the local countryside around the gallery, the nature in her garden and Holly, her treasured Labrador. There was even time to pick up her paintbrushes and the gallery now has many bright floral paintings and cards, drawn from the glorious rural Sussex countryside found just beyond the gallery’s door. In another moment of design artistry, Wendy, collaborating with the talented local graphic designer Annabel Clements, ( https://www.windmillcreative.co.uk ) took the original Artologie branding created by Annabel in 2017, and extended it to incorporate a fresh new look logo which has now been transferred into an embossed stamp. She further assisted Wendy to produce a new range of bespoke stationery developed from some of the pen and ink drawings mentioned above. We think these would make an ideal gift for anyone who has a love for beautiful paper or anyone practising #theartofslowliving by taking time to communicate with friends and loved ones in ink. The emboss stamp is used to authenticate the limited edition prints on sale at the gallery. Of course, all Wendy’s creations and designs are on display in the gallery, so come in for a visit and have a chat about all things art. If you have a particular requirement, Wendy, like most of our artists, would be delighted to discuss this with you to see if commissioning would be appropriate.
