Glorious Summery Sussex Charms

Artologie is thrilled to have for sale several new works by Grant Dejonge that celebrate to glorious summery scenery so characteristic of the wonderful countryside surrounding East Chiltington and the South Downs National Park.

It will be hard to find someone who is not delighted with these pieces that cover vistas ranging from beautiful bluebells to stunning sunflowers and rapturous fields of rapeseed, each completely compelling and mesmerizing in their own way.

Many are on display in our window along with Grant’s campaign piece demonstrating against proposals to eradicate 400 acres of rural farmland around East Chiltington. (Please read our separate BLOG Unhappy News Alert for more information and details on how you can help.)

Well known for his bold modern expressionist landscapes, Grant masterfully paints with the aim of catching a moment in time and translating it through a vibrant display of colour and brush strokes onto canvas. His paintings effortlessly draw the viewer in to that specific instant, enabling them to also experience and delight in the moment’s natural perfection. We believe that no one will be able to avoid smiling as they look at these painting.

We love having visitors come into our gallery, just as much as we also delight in chatting with customers about the pieces on display and the stories about these pieces that the artists have shared with us. So we hope you can come in soon for an uplifting immersion of colour and creativity.

If you are unable to come in person many of our paintings are for sale via our online shop, but if not please email or call the gallery for more information.

There is great excitement in the gallery as we plan a pop-up exhibition for February 2022! Entitled Modern Love the exhibition will run from February 7 th to 21 st . (As the annual day of love, aka, Valentine’s Day, falls neatly within the run of the exhibition, we felt compelled to take a fresh look at our art, from a loving perspective of course!) Our featured artist is something a little different this time. We feel sure his collection will spark interest, curiosity, and conversation. In a further nod to Valentine’s Day, and specifically love, (yes, we are going all out in a lovely way), we have invited our artists to look at the relationship they have with their art and how love inspires them. Essentially, we have asked them to pop on some heart shaped glasses, and write about loving their art. It is all sure to be a bit of fabulous February fun!
